Mackay engineering and project management consultancy Projex Partners’ commitment to the city appears strong.
The firm opened an office in Peel Street in 2013 and since has worked on projects in the region including capital works for Government authorities.
This year the organisation relocated to a larger office at Suite 9, Wellington House, Wellington Street, in the Mackay CBD.
Managing Director Jeffrey Bess said the firm had renewed confidence in the area following State Government infrastructure announcements for the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions.
“During the downturn we have remained firm in our positive long term view of Mackay and the region as a whole,” Mr Bess said.
“We know that by 2031 Mackay’s population is projected to increase by over 50,000 people which means there will be more demand on infrastructure such as roads, local bridges and other community services.
“Our approach is always to ride out the tough times and look to the brighter future and we are confident that green shoots are starting to emerge for the growth of the region.
Mr Bess said the firm had recently added an experienced senior technical officer to the local team and would continue to build a business through employing local people which in turn will support the region’s growth.
“We prefer to employ local wherever possible and that’s what we’ve managed to do at our other offices in Cairns and Sunshine Coast,” he said.
“We’ve also established The Partners Group Australia to support planned continued growth and this enables us to provide a broad range of engineering consulting services to our clients including civil and structural engineering and project and program management services.”
