Topsy Creek Road

Black & More finalised designs and project managed construction of 3 causeways along Topsy Creek Road under Stage 1 of the Topsy Creek Road Upgrade project.

The Topsy Creek Road upgrade project consists of 7 areas of works split into two stages as follows:

Stage 1:

  • Causeway No.1 – Gooseberry Creek
  • 350m x 7m concrete causeway with rock protection either side
  • Causeway No.2 – Sand Hole
  • 150m x 7m concrete causeway including 6/1200×900 box culverts and rock protection either side
  • Causeway No.3 – Boomerang Creek
  • 250m x 7m concrete causeway with rock protection either side

Stage 2:

  • Causeway No.4
  • Causeway No.5
  • Road and Drainage Upgrades at Various Locations
  • Barge Ramp

Stage 2 works are to be designed and constructed in 2017/18.

The aim of the project is to provide an alternate supply route to the Community during the wet season when other access roads are closed.

These works were funded by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Lockhart River Esplanade Road

Civil engineering design and project management for design of a new esplanade road. Works included construction of a new culvert, 260 metres of sealed road with flush kerbing and concrete barge unloading facility.

Aumuller Street Redevelopment

Design and documentation of upgrades to a major collector road in the Cairns road network including multiple intersection treatments and services upgrades.

Portland Roads Restoration and Redevelopment Works

Black & More provided master planning, civil engineering design and project management to the construction of major disaster recovery and redevelopment works on a 62km stretch of access road to the Lockhart River community. Planning works involved coordination and logistics for delivery of works under multiple government programs including NDRRA, CRF, TIDS and CIMA. Works involve: bridging multiple creeks; re-sheeting and table drain recovery; sealing and resilience works.

Peninsula Development Road: Water Points Evaluation

Black & More undertook engineering inspections of ‘water points’ on the route of the Peninsula Development Road stretching the length of Cape York Peninsula. These inspections informed the planning of major construction works aimed at sealing the PDR for the first time.

Pascoe River Crossing – Portland Road

Black & More project managed the design and construction of the rectification and upgrade to the Pascoe Crossing. These works were funded by QRA (NDRRA), CRF and Council. This crossing is a vital link on the only access Road into Lockhart River.

Lockhart River Engineering Services
