Black & More were involved in the design, construction and management of a covered walkway connecting the Special Education Facility and the admin facilities at Atherton State School. The walkway consisted of a concrete pathway and covered link structure.
Black & More worked with the Department of Education and QBuild to deliver upgrades to the existing Admin and Prep Facilities. The design and management of this project presented some unique challenges. As some of the original buildings were constructed over 100 years ago it was critical that the external façade be left in its original condition whilst the internal layouts were altered to reflect current departmental standards. As principal consultant, Black & More managed the project through the design process and provided assistance and advice during construction.
As part of a larger vision for the school covered access, Black & More designed, documented and project managed a new all-weather linking walkway. The school can now access the Music Block and Covered Sports Hall via the new covered walkway.
Malanda SHS had outgrown their existing Tuckshop. Black & More designed, documented and managed the renovation and extension of the facility. The school now has a state of the art Tuckshop fully fitted out with high-end appliances, a walk-in freezer/cold room and a completely new and more serviceable layout.
Black & More undertook structural inspections and condition assessments for elements of the Innisfail Public Hospital. This included the hospital roof, parapets and lift shafts. Our team are trained in access at heights and also utilise aerial drones to access and photograph difficult to access areas.
Black & More acted in the role of Principal Consultant to undertake major renovations of more than 20 Far North Queensland Schools. Works included architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades. Works also entailed in the identification and removal of asbestos containing materials from buildings built before 1990.
Black & More are managing the delivery of the upgrade works to the Bamaga Sewerage Lagoons and construction of the new Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) Regional Waste Facility. The Bamaga Sewerage Lagoons Upgrade involves the expansion of existing primary and secondary treatment ponds and increase in effluent disposal area. The NPA Regional Waste Facility project involves construction of a new landfill facility at Injinoo, new waste transfer station at Umagico and the closure of the existing landfill facility at Umagico.
Black & More was engaged by the State Government to advise on project identification, delivery methodology, design and documentation and construction. The projects included water, sewerage and solid waste infrastructure in remote Indigenous communities across the State.
