William McCormack Place

A fall arrest system is the last line of defence for workers whose duties expose them to fall hazards.

Black & More recently investigated the fall arrest system at William McCormack Place, an 8 storey State Government Building in Cairns. We provided access and undertook site investigation and reporting to assess the condition of the existing system and provide advice for system upgrades and ongoing management. Our engineering report provided prioritised recommendations for upgrades and management based on cost benefit and risk analyses and in accordance with best industry practice.

Atherton State School Walkway Upgrade

Yungaburra State School Prep & Admin Renovations

Black & More worked with the Department of Education and QBuild to deliver upgrades to the existing Admin and Prep Facilities. The design and management of this project presented some unique challenges. As some of the original buildings were constructed over 100 years ago it was critical that the external façade be left in its original condition whilst the internal layouts were altered to reflect current departmental standards. As principal consultant, Black & More managed the project through the design process and provided assistance and advice during construction.

Malanda State School Walkway Upgrade

As part of a larger vision for the school covered access, Black & More designed, documented and project managed a new all-weather linking walkway.  The school can now access the Music Block and Covered Sports Hall via the new covered walkway.

Malanda SHS had outgrown their existing Tuckshop.  Black & More designed, documented and managed the renovation and extension of the facility.  The school now has a state of the art Tuckshop fully fitted out with high-end appliances, a walk-in freezer/cold room and a completely new and more serviceable layout.

Innisfail Hospital Condition Assessment (2019)

Black & More undertook structural inspections and condition assessments for elements of the Innisfail Public Hospital.  This included the hospital roof, parapets and lift shafts. Our team are trained in access at heights and also utilise aerial drones to access and photograph difficult to access areas.
